Doug is committed to his mission of building teams to create wealth through financial leadership activities so they can make the world a better place through their unique mission. He has been recognized by the South Carolina Association of CPAs as being one of the top 100 influencers in accounting in South Carolina. The Charleston CFO Council recognized Doug as being the Senior Executive of the Year in 2016. While Doug spends time on his career, he makes sure work does not take away time from his involvement with family, community, sports and books.
Doug has been married to Julianne Farnsworth for over 34 years. They love being together and traveling with their twins, Elizabeth and Manning.
Doug has been an avid sports fan since youth. He loves playing and watching basketball and tennis. In college, he was a walk-on for the basketball team. He currently plays recreational tennis and is actively involved in The Citadel Basketball Association. Doug also enjoys snow skiing with his family.
• Currently serves as Emeritus Member on The Citadel’s governing board. He served as Chairman form 2008 – 2012. Beginning in 1996, Doug was elected to serve on the board by the South Carolina Legislature and was re-elected for three consecutive six year terms.
• Currently serves on Palmetto Goodwill Board of Directors. He has served as Audit Committee Chair and serves on the Finance Committee.
• Currently serves as Treasurer and Board Member of TogetherSC. He was the first external accountant to serve the organization when it was established 20 years ago.
• SunTrust Advisory – Currently serves on the SunTrust Advisory Board for the lowcountry region of South Carolina. He serves as the certified public accountant representative for the Charleston, SC area.
Doug is a voracious reader of business books, reviews financial articles, and enjoys listening to business podcasts. He likes to keep track of reviews and suggestions through Goodreads.com. Doug loves adding books to his personal library. His hobby is to collect signed first editions of South Carolina authors that includes signed first editions from his favorite author Pat Conroy.
